Three wheeler using Hydrogen fuel-HyAlfa, Hydrogen powered 3 wheeler

Hydrogen fuel was introduced in the three wheeler world. The world’s first hydrogen powered 3 wheelers- HyAlfa was launched on experimental basis at Delhi, India. Use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in the vehicle HyAlfa will be the pioneer among Hydrogen powered vehicles. HyAlfa project is the completion of 20 years of experiment.

Technical Details:

Prize: Not yet ready for commercial production, when it is on mass production, the approximate cost $4716 to $4824 (Rs 2,20,000 to Rs2, 25,000)

Fuel: Hydrogen

Mileage: 1 kg of hydrogen giving around 65km to 80 km of mileage.

The hydrogen requires the same working expense as that of ordinary fuel. Hydrogen fuel costs 250/kg, which can be compensated through high fuel efficiency.
It is expected to be produced on commercial basis under experimental success. It was developed under a joint work by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (ICHET), Mahindra & Mahindra and IIT-Delhi.
